It’s never too early to talk to your kids about the wonders of manual transmissions.

P&F was awesome. If you haven’t seen it, find Live and Let Drive (S04E32), guest staring Jezza, Cpt. Slow, and the Hamster.

I’ve got a MT car and I still haven’t gotten around to teaching them about it. They are a breed in danger of extinction and new cars with manuals have rev hang to avoid over-rich emissions situations, electronic throttle position sensors, and crappy linkages. So if your manual transmission isn’t twenty years or older, I’d say, don’t bother with it. That’s my opinion, anyhow.

The entire video is freaking awesome. I mean, who wouldn’t want that car?

I’ll look for it. We watch P&F in my classroom. Interestingly, 7th & 8th graders love it, but 6th graders are much less impressed. For one thing, the dialoge in P&F is very sophisticated. So I turn on the subtitles and the kids are much more engaged.
